Public prosecutor of High Court as member of the Board of the Greek broadcaster

A decision of the Supervisory Board of the Greek Public Broadcaster NERIT, defined today Supreme Court deputy prosecutor Mr. George Borodimos as a member of the Board of Directors. According to the press release, "The Management of NERIT is particularly pleased with the choice and believes that Borodimo's participation in the Board - due to his prior service in the field of Justice - will be instrumental in observing transparency, legitimacy and accountability in the functioning of the Broadcaster and to clarify cases of intransparency that may have occurred in the past.

Aegean VHF contest: Greek radio amateurs target the bands of Europe!

This year's Greek amateur radio contest, the 13th one, will be on air for 5 and 6 July, by daybreak Saturday, the 5th of July, until dawn the following Monday. The Aegean VHF Contest, is aiming to engage as much young and old amateurs from the all geographic regions of the country, including clubs, groups and individuals, in a common Greek amateur radio activity. Radio amateurs are invited to take all of their equipment, and operate from home or from a fairly high point by calling: «CQ CQ CQ Aegean Contest».

Greek Public Broadcaster call for DVB-T transmitters, satellite and receivers

The Administration Board of NERIT decided to hold:

an open, international tender for the supply of 335 installed transmitters DVB-T, with various power (90 pieces power 10W, 180 pieces of power equal to or greater than 180W, and 65 pieces of power more than 600W). The estimated cost reaches 5.43 million euros, plus VAT

EBU does not recognize the Greek Public Broadcaster as a member yet

The executives of EBU who were in Athens for a meeting with NERIT administration yesterday have not been convinced that the new Greek Public Broadcaster is in full operation. Therefore, EBU has not accepted yet the request of NERIT to be a full member of the union of public broadcasters in Europe.

One majour issues, is that NERIT has not yet succeeded to hire more than 25 personnel, whereas the rest of the content is still produced by the interim broadcaster set up last September by the Ministry of Finances.

Resignation by one more member of Greek Public Broadcasters' administration board

Konstantinos Polyzogopoulos, the professor of Law who used to be a member of NERIT's administration board, resigned today. The Trust Board is seeking a replacement.

Greece's new Public Broadcaster NERIT came as a replacement after the closure of the old Broadcaster ERT. NERIT has undergone major turbulances, as a result of the huge delays, the organization problems and internal conflicts. CEO Prokopakis was forced to quit a few weeks ago, after almost one year in his position, whereas Deputy CEO Evaggelakou resigned after accused for corruption.
