The radio station employees of Aris FM have been on strike since 80 days already. The sports radio station is controlled by Touronis group which has been facing severe facing financial problems, which resulted in the seizure of the entire equipment of Star FM, about a month ago. The technicians on strike are seeking payment of all debts (wages - Easter Bonus 2012) and ending of the lack of insurance for some of their colleagues. Journalists, administrative employees and technicians in the municipal and private radio stations have announced a 24-hour strike for Monday 27 of November. The radio employees ask the retraction of of their colleagues who have been laid off, the retention of all jobs, signing collective agreements and the proper implementation of existing ones. Wherever the strike takes place, the radio stations will only work with security personnel, i.e. transmitting only music program from Monday morning until Tuesday morning. A violent incident took place in the morning, during the demonstration of ERT employees in front of the Parliament, due to the 4-hour strike (12-4 PM) that POSPERT and POESY unions have announced for today, affecting public broadcasting all around Greece. Police, who had earlied blocked the road with vehicles, pushed violently and without provocation the assembled employees. 350 ERT employees were beaten up at 1pm at the beginning of Vas Sofias str by police, who kicked them, punched them and pushed them back. Radio and television stations all around Greece will remain without content for four days. Huge employment problems, cuts and layoffs, forced the employees of the media to go for a four-day strike, beginning from Thursday morning. The Union of Journalists in Thessaloniki (ESIEMTH) called for a 24-hour strike at Radio Thessaloniki, in co-operation with the unions of Personnel and Engineers. Radio Thessaloniki is the radio station with the highest audience and ad rankings. The strike should leave the station without content on the 31st of December. All the unions of workers in Mass Media are participating in the nationwide 24-hour strike announced for today. As a result, the program of radio and television stations is widely disrupted. The Journalist's Union made a statement calling for the immediate signing of union contracts and the commitment to avoid any tactics aimed at dismantling collective bargaining agreements, and also demanded the cancellation of individual 'contracts' on SKAI Group. A violent incident between owners and workers took place during the 4-hour work stoppage by the sound engineers at Athlitika Nea Radio, in Thessaloniki. According to the Association of Radio Engineers in Macedonia and Thrace (ETERMTH), shortly before the start of the 4-hour work stoppage declared by the ETERMTH, the radio station manager Demetrios Skordas and Lambros Tatsikas (Director of Sport News newspaper) in an effort to reverse situation which had been against them, they made physical assaults against President of ETERMTH Konstantinos Hatzigeorgiou and Secretary Kosmas Stefanidis.
