Several radio stations of Ioannina went off air yesterday, this time due to an uncommon reason: an old radio mast in Liggiades, Ioannina collapsed on the cables of the electrical company. As a result, the power at the site was interrupted, until the damage was repaired. The incident was caused by the antenna mast that used to belong to the radio station Christianismos, which has ceased broadcasts to the city since years. FM transmitter of Public Radio ERA of Corfu has been off-air since quite a few days. In their announcement, the administration of the local Greek radios station apologized to the listeners for the long interruption of service, which "is attributed to a serious equipment failure of the FM transmitter. Technicians of ERT are making a strong effort in order to solve the problem, by turning the transmitter back on, as soon as possible. A stolen broadcasting equipment was the last straw for much afflicted Epikinonia FM. Unidentified persons broke into the trasmitter premises of the radio station on Pikilo Mountain, on April 7. The burglars removed valuable broadcasting equipment and managed to escape undetected. The station managers tried to replace the stolen equipment, but in vain: the hutch was broken in once again, after a few days. As a result, the station remains off air.
