ERA Corfu FM transmitter off due to technical issues

FM transmitter of Public Radio ERA of Corfu has been off-air since quite a few days. In their announcement, the administration of the local Greek radios station apologized to the listeners for the long interruption of service, which "is attributed to a serious equipment failure of the FM transmitter. Technicians of ERT are making a strong effort in order to solve the problem, by turning the transmitter back on, as soon as possible. The program of our station is being normally transmitted via our mediumwave (AM) transmitter and via internet. We thank all listeners for their interest and support and we will be back with them via FM, in the next few days."

In an irony of fate, the mediumwave transmitter of 1008KHz is suggested as the only reception method for listening to the station, just one day after the government spokesman announced tha tthe vast majority of mediumwave transmitters will be switched off; probably including this particular one. The mediumwave transmitter of Corfu is on the most powerful mediumwave transmitters of Greece and due to the fact that it is situated near Italy and the rest of Europe, has been used in the past as a part of the "International Network of ERA".
