The final end of Xenios Radio was confirmed at the meeting of Tuesday (26/06) by the City Council of Phili. The decision included the clearance the municipal radio station, after defining 3 trustees (of whom one is known, former purger the station, Mr. George Nikitakis) and transfering the radio station personnel to the municipality and the legal entities of Phili (with contracts for Institutions of Local Administration), at the request of the employees concerned. After twenty years of operation, Volos Municipal Radio prepares to silence in the coming months, after the dissolution of the body and the liquidation of its assets. The decision is expected to be taken by the Volos Municipal Council, which meets at noon on Friday.

Radio Xenios has officially ceased operation after many adventures in recent months, as confirmed by the representative of the employees. Ms Kitsaki in a press release, stated:

The end of an era will be marked soon, as the 20-year-old studios of municipal radio at Thessaloniki's Angelaki str. are moving out, following a plan of its supervisor and municipal advisor, Sofia Aslanidou. According to her announcement before the municipal council, the municipal information company managed to get new premises in the Eteria Makedonikon Spoudon building, that now houses the municipal TV100, with no rent increase. The possible reopening of the municipal radio station of Kavala has been being examined for the last month by the City Council of Kavala, after a proposal by Mayor C. Simitsis. A solution was proposed to assign the operation of the station to a private body, but it caused "doubts about the transparency on using an asset of the municipality. A stolen broadcasting equipment was the last straw for much afflicted Epikinonia FM. Unidentified persons broke into the trasmitter premises of the radio station on Pikilo Mountain, on April 7. The burglars removed valuable broadcasting equipment and managed to escape undetected. The station managers tried to replace the stolen equipment, but in vain: the hutch was broken in once again, after a few days. As a result, the station remains off air. The bad financial and administrative situation of Radio Xenios (Municipal Radio of Ano Liosia) was to be concluded with a theft of equipment. As mentioned in an article by Fannis Kyriopoulos in Typos Newspaper "on Thursday, March 3, the Municipal Radio of Ano Liosia stopped transmitting after strangers broke into the "container" located at Pikilo Mountain and removed the reserve transmitter of the station.
