As a result of the implications caused by the huge demonstration by hundreds of thousands in the center of Athens, the Greek Prime Minister is retreating badly as it concerns his communication tactics. The Greek Public Broadcaster ERT just announced that the "open" interview of George Papandreou on the public news radio, scheduled for tomorrow, "is being postponed until further notice". It may seem sensible to postpone the interview with the excuse of the procedural duties, including the wide reform of the government and its approval vote in the Parliament. Though, the timing of the interview could not be more interesting, in fact. We can therefore assume that one more PR trick collapsed before even it took place: It is a fact that that the producers of the public radio, playing democracy, asked for the listeners to send questions, so that some "selected" ones would be posed to the Prime Minister. It is also a fact that more than two thousand questions have been noted down. Nevertheless, what nobody can deny, is that the Prime Minister (who according many scenarios was in the edge of stepping back today) has suffered such a bad damage of his public image, so that a half-instructed "public" interview in a government-influenced medium would not even function as a simple pain-killer.
We will wait if the interview will ever take place, even with "expired" questions (since most of them were submitted before the latest political issues). Although, we have to admit, the radio interests of the Greek Prime Minister are rather unimportant compared to what happens in the country itself...
