Greek radio authorities force local radio station to jam the public radio

ΕΡΑ 3

The Greek National Broadcasting Council (ES) according to a later decision, has sent radio 97.2 FM Stereo of Lesvos Prefecture, the official recommendation to stop broadcasting illegally at 97.6 MHz and return to 97.2, from Profitis Ilias of Lesvos Prefecture. What's unbelievable, is that the 3rd Service of ERA (the public radio) operates at the same frequency, from the same location. This means that the Council, according to this decision, forces a private station to LEGALLY jam the public radio.

Of course, the owner of the radio station didn't change its frequency for complying with the law. But what followed is also awkward: He received a letter from the Public Prosecution Administration of Mytilene, that if he doesn't change back to the legal frequency in one week (resulting to causing interference to the state radio) he will face a legal action. To document originated from the National Telecommunications Committee (EETT), CCed to the Public Prosecution Administration and the Police of Mitilini. Without having any other choice, the owner of the radio station, switched back to the old frequency, in order to LEGALLY broadcast over the Greek public radio.

ESR's decision is there
