Achaia
On 5/9/2011 National Telecommunications Committee (EETT) in cooperation with the Police, raided the transmitter of Radio IONION FM 95,7 Achaia on Panachaiko Mountain and confiscated the whole equipment. The certificate of legal operation for IONION FM Achaia had been withdrawn from the ESR since 2010 following the decision 147/23.3.2010. The raid may cause reactions, given the good relationship of ownership with the regional radio owners' association (PEIRAS); a question has also been tabled before the Parliament by two local MPs. Nine regional radio stations will be formed out of the merge of 19 local public radio services, according to the plan announced by Greek Minister of Communication, Ilias Mossialos. According to the plan, only 2 stations remain as they are (North Aegean, based on Lesbos and South Aegean based on Rhodes). The official website of the Kiss FM Patras announced that "Kissfm 92.2 got ready the new year and preparing for more to come. Despite the previous efforts to silence our voices, we fought and won. The country's highest court, the Council of State, in its decision No 1354/2010, vindicated Kiss FM 92,2, concluding that National Broadcasting Council (ESR) was mistaking on removing its license and of course that Patras police was also mistaking when they seized Kiss FM's equipment on summer 2010 in a police operational parody.
