Greek convernment starts legal fight against monopoly carrier contract for digital TV

A series of questions, according which the legality of the DVB-t contract of the Greek state with Digea is being questioned, were sent by the left wing Greek government to the National Telecommunications Commission of Greece. According to the document, which was published first by infocom.gr, the Minister clearly sets legally worded questions, according to which the auction conducted by the Telecommunications Commission and was won by the consortium of major TV channels, is illegal and should possibly have been canceled.

Greek Public Broadcaster call for DVB-T transmitters, satellite and receivers

The Administration Board of NERIT decided to hold:

an open, international tender for the supply of 335 installed transmitters DVB-T, with various power (90 pieces power 10W, 180 pieces of power equal to or greater than 180W, and 65 pieces of power more than 600W). The estimated cost reaches 5.43 million euros, plus VAT

Greek Public Radio executives seem positive towards DRM+

As the plans of the Greek government for digital radio are still unclear, some first thoughts concerning digital radio broadcasting in Greece have already been heard within ERT. According to a report in the Radio-Link magazine, after a brief discussion of the author with executives of ERT in late December, they said they consider the use of the DRM+ standard for digital broadcasting in mediumwave and shortwave. As they said, improving the signal of international Greek radio broadcasts would mean "substantial offer to the country and multiple benefits for ERT".

Private channels against DVB-T public radio

The talks between ERT and Digea seem to disagree on the fact that the radio programs ERA have been included in the digital platform of ERT. According to the newspaper "Paron", the body representing the private channels insists that ERT is not entitled to include radio programs in its digital DVB-T platform.

ERA starts broadcasting digitally from Aegina Island

One more transponder of ERT Digital will start Tuesday, December 14 from the Broadcasting Center of Aegina Island. The transponder of ERT Digital will include the radio stations 105.8 NET, Second, Third, ERA Spor and Kosmos. It will work alongside the transmitter of Hymettus Mt., providing coverage on the coast of Attica and other areas that do not have eye contact with Hymettus. The transmitter will be tuned on channel 52 in UHF (722 MHz).
