Awkward situations have emerged during last year’s efforts to “sanitize” ERT. The consideration of cuts on Radiotileorasi magazine have created an weird complication concerning the CDs, which are distributed by the magazine to the readers for free, containing copies of the valuable radio archive of Greek Radio. According to a report by the “Paron” newspaper, thousands of CDs remain stacked in the ERT building of Katechaki str and they are supposed to be sold to the public. They were tranported there from the warehouse, when the administration of the public broadcaster was discussing the plan for cutting the expenses of the magazin. Though, there is the issue that they take up a lot of space and according the same piece of information, it is being discussed that they get destroyed.
At the same time, “Radiotileorasi” keeps offering parts of the ERT archive, by printing new CDs. The editors of the report wonder, how come ERT hasn’t thought of donating those thousands of CDs, containing rare video and radio content, to schools, libraries and prisons.
