Journalists, administrative employees and technicians in the municipal and private radio stations have announced a 24-hour strike for Monday 27 of November. The radio employees ask the retraction of of their colleagues who have been laid off, the retention of all jobs, signing collective agreements and the proper implementation of existing ones. Wherever the strike takes place, the radio stations will only work with security personnel, i.e. transmitting only music program from Monday morning until Tuesday morning. It is likely that owners appeal against the strike, in order to have it judged as unlawful and abusive, which will be decided in court with relatively high probability that it leads to a jurisdiction against the workers (of course this something that needs to be defended by the Unions). The strike will not affect the public radio, which had a strike last week.
This is one of the first strikes carried out jointly by all employees on the radio, after the finding that the job situation in this sector had radically worsened, including redundancies, late payments and salary reductions. The Union of Technicians, after General Assembly of an unprecedented attendance, on Wednesday, unanimously decided to participate in any action within the radio stations, in response to the intransigence of the employers to sign collective labor agreement. "The employers' effort to deregulate the entire collective agreement and to reduce our salaries by 20%, will have to deal with the reactions of the technical personnel of the radio stations. We urge employers to stop the slippery slope of conflict against their employees." The Union is calling for one more General Assembly on the day of the strike.
